Once you have read all of the book and listened to all of the podcasts then you know a whole lot of things about a whole lot of topics, however knowledge alone does not translate into behavior change. Coaching is where you take that knowledge about topics and turn it on yourself to look at how that issue is showing up in your life.  Gaining this self-awareness is a necessary first step in making any shifts in you and your life. Doing the work, means not only understanding a concept but also understanding yourself. A coach will gently guide you through a personal exploration of how you currently see the world and help you to broaden that perspective so that you begin seeing other option in front of you.

A coach can help you design ways to try new things, have new conversations and shift your habitual ways of being all in the container of a trusting relationship.

We transform our ways of being by understanding how and perhaps even why we have operated as we have for so long. Only then can we begin to do the courageous work of letting go of that old version of ourself to become the person we were always meant to be. Our true self. Self-Reflection

 Coaching offers you the gift of time to focus solely on yourself. We tend to spend a lot of our life thinking about things and thinking about whether we are satisfied with them or not but rarely do we turn our gaze inward. Coaching allows you to look internally and consider who you are, how you behave and what's important to you. Together with your coach, you will be able to bring those things into alignment with one another.

Personal Awareness

We cannot change what we cannotĀ see. Self-awareness is a necessary first step in changing our beliefs and our behaviors. It is also true that getting to self-awareness on our own can be difficult. We are mostly blind to our ways of operating. Ā The benefit of a coach is that they can shine a light on some of your habitual waysĀ of thinking and acting that have become second natureĀ to you. Making the invisible, visible with which you can begin working.

Practical Actions

Self-awareness is necessary but not sufficient to get us to change our behaviors. Once we have the insight of our habitual patterns, we then have to take the daring next step to begin doing something different. To break our automatic pilot with small, consistent shifts in our ways of being. Together with your coach, you will co-create practices that you can incorporate into your daily life to realize the lasting changes you desire.

Terri Creeden and Sanela Lukanovic are both certified coaches, trainers and facilitators with decades of experience. They have come together as the co-founders of Selfdom and each maintain their own private coaching practices. Unified by their certification in the work of Dr. Brené Brown, they are both passionate about supporting individuals to live and lead with authenticity, purpose and courage.
